The summary says it all. I've owned many headlights, we raise animals and have a lot to do at night that requires both hands. We don't have time to be playing with a hand held light. I've only used it for a few months but in normal handling it holds up very well. The 3 white lights meet all needs. The red light makes every thing visible and DOES NOT ATTRACT GNATS! Try doing something with bugs up your nose. The best headlight I've owned, I have a large box full of rejects. And it makes a great light to poke into hard to reach places. I found this at Lowe's for under $20. I've been selling them hard to all the neighbors during irrigation nights. That's easy to do with a 250 foot range on spot and 70 lumens output. I don't know if mine is older than the above specs or newer and they haven't updated them. Check the package to make sure you get the more powerful one. If they have downgraded them I'm going to stock up a 6 or 7 of them, that should last me the rest of my time.
I bought the HD5L33AE it is similar only better. It has 2 switches so you can turn on the red leds with out turning on the white light. It also has 70 lumens output with a 250 foot range. It is the BEST head lamp I have ever owned and I have a large box full of rejects. I found it at Lowe's and a very good price.
Try a sporting goods store like Big 5. I think they sell replacement straps, you may be able to find one that fits. This is such a good light you might want to buy a cheaper brand and take the strap off that.
